Mini Caramel Apples

Mini Caramel Apples
Bite-size versions of the fall fair treat, these tiny "caramel" apples are a great party snack.More Back-to-School Treats
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
4-inch lollipop sticks
Melon baller
Granny Smith apples (one apple makes about 8 mini apples)
Butterscotch or peanut butter chips
Chopped nuts, nonpareils, sprinkles, shredded coconut (optional)
Small paper candy cups
1. First, cut the lollipop sticks in half at an angle (the pointy end will go into the apple pieces easier). With the melon baller, scoop little balls out of the apple. Each ball should have a section of apple peel. Push half of a lollipop stick into the peel of each ball. Pat the apple pieces dry. 2. Melt the chips according to the package directions. Dip and swirl the mini apples in the melted chips, then roll the apples in nuts, sprinkles, nonpareils, or coconut, if desired. Place the mini apples in paper candy cups to set.

Water Bottles!

This is a great drink idea that the kids love!!! Take water bottles and give each of the kids one with a Kool-Aid Jammers Orange Singles (pre-mixed packet). They love mixing them by theirselves, and then the bottles close so there is less spilling! You don't have to make the fancy holder that is shown in this photo, but they are cute! Semi-Homemade-Sandra Lee: Halloween Food

Warning: I keep forgetting that you can't used anything but store bought items in the classroom. So the juice is fine, but I will add more ideas for room parties in a later post. But these are cute for home!

Dragon's Blood Drink

1 (46-ounce) can red punch (recommended: Hawaiian Punch)
1 (46-ounce) can apple juice
1 (48-ounce) bottle cranberry juice
1 (2-liter) bottle ginger ale
Ice cubes
Combine all ingredients in a large punch bowl or pot. Add ice and stir.
Ladle into serving glasses.

Spider Bites

1 (12-ounce) package semisweet morsels
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 6 cups pretzel sticks

Place parchment paper on baking sheet; set aside.
In a large glass microwave-safe bowl combine chocolate chips and peanut butter. Melt on high for 2 to 3 minutes. Remove and stir until smooth.
Stir in pretzel sticks. With clean hands grab pretzel sticks and drop on prepared baking sheet in clusters to look like spiders.
Place in freezer for 5 minutes or until to chocolate is hardened. Remove and serve.

Back-to-school!

I always have high hopes for the first day of school. Homemade breakfast & cute cupcakes to eat while they tell me about their day, but my hopes are always dashed when the day gets away from me. But again this year I'm planning on doing it, I thought these were cute ideas from Family Fun.

Field Day Snacks

Freeze mini Gatorade bottles (available 24 for about $10.00 at Sam's Club & Costco) or Capri sun Sport pouches. Take them out about 1/2 hour before serving. It's a great hydrating frozen treat.
Other Ideas:
Popsicles/ Ice Cream Bars
Mini Carrot Stick Packs
If you have any great ideas make a comment below.

Field Day Game

A great field day game that's really cheap is a Sponge Relay.
Purchase: 4 buckets (2 large, 2 medium) &4 sponges (2 for game and 2 for extras if one tears).
I just got these at All A Dollar.
Prep: Fill large buckets with water & put a sponge in each bucket. Draw a fill line on each smaller bucket and place them 15-20 feet away. Divide the kids into 2 lines.
Game: Have then first child in each line dunk the sponge, and carry it across to the other bucket. Have them squeeze out the water and try to fill the bucket as much as they can. Have them run back and hand off to next person in line. The team that fills bucket to line first wins.

It's a cheap, easy, & fun game which also cools the kids off.

Teacher Appreciation Week/ Doors!!

"Cooking Up Appreciation"

Please hang

Friday after school May 2nd

It's easier to have the paper decorated before you bring it to hang. Hang on either front or back (teacher's choice). with masking tape. Here is a door example! Butcher paper to cover the entire door (available at the school office, there are many different colors) with something cute in the middle. You don't have to have the border. Please include Teacher's name & I think it is great to put each child's name in their class. This does not have to cost a lot of money, but have fun with it. If you can try to stick with theme, but if you can't think of anything feel free to come up with your own ideas.

Here's a few I thought of:

"Mr./Mrs._____ you whisked up a great year" Have a whisk (paper, real might get too expensive) with each child's name on the handle.

"Mr./Mrs.______ You really measure up to a great teacher!" Have large measuring glass (paper) have each child be a line on the glass.

"Mr./Mrs.________ You're as sweet as a spoonful of sugar" Spoons (paper or plastic) with kids names on them.

"Mr./Mrs.________ You're a cut above the rest" Knives (PAPER) kids names on them

Here's a few more examples of items you could use just think of a title... food pyramid, cookie jar, apron, spoons, recipe card, dishes, forks, hot pads, paper towels, popcorn, Hot dogs, (hot dog you were a great teacher, ingredient, etc. I couldn't pass up this picture it's not part of the theme but great for a male teacher!

It's says Mr.____ you're the "Master" of the 4th grade. 4 on flag.
